§ 6-1.12. Strays.

No person, except a society incorporated within the State of California for the primary purpose of preventing cruelty to animals, shall harbor any lost or strayed dog, cat or other animal. Whenever any such animal shall be found which appears to be lost, stray, or feral, the person finding it shall immediately notify an Animal Control Officer so that the animal may be impounded. Retaining a stray animal after notifying an Animal Control Officer shall not constitute a violation of this section.
